The Learning Curve
Making students an all-rounder in the Game industry takes its course at ICAT through the three years of study. During the years, the students undergo a comprehensive learning, right from the basics of art and design to advanced game development concepts.
Year I - Comprehend the Skills of Game Development
Travelling in a linear fashion, the program starts with giving a clear understanding of the basics, including art and design basics, visualization techniques, interactive media design principles, conceptualization, theories on game design and enhancing player experience, and business aspects of game development. The students get to develop their ability to design games with analytical and technical considerations with relevance to the field of study. They get to explore different storytelling techniques and visualization methods. They create assets in different styles with and without the help of digital tools/software. Further, they are taught the basics of Game Development through powerful programming languages.
Year II – Develop Games from Scratch
Digital 3D Modeling and Character Designing practices give the students their perfect way through developing the necessary characters, props, and environment for their games. The students get their first hands on experience on character animation. These enable the students to finely perform level designing. They learn to use industry-standard game engines to put together their ideas to develop games. Further, the students get their hands on developing Web games, canvas-based games, and games relevant to different mobile platforms, right from scratch.
Year III – Ready to Challenge Industry with Finest Skills
With a focus to give our students a cutting-edge among their peers in the industry, the students are introduced to advanced game development techniques like shaders and physics, and are guided towards developing games incorporating latest in technology like XR and IoT. They get to build a strong knowledge on developing games with game engines incorporating high-level gaming concepts. They seek the knowledge on quality assessment methods to ensure quality, from usability to efficiency. Further, they develop excellence in the production of individual programs of work. They will also be working collaboratively in a design development team in a professional environment to get exposed to real world challenges.
