Instructions for a Mini Hello Kitty MP3 Player

Ever order an inexpensive mini Kitty MP3 Player and find out they Don't have any Instructions? The kind you find on Amazon or eBay for a couple of dollars.

The mini Kitty MP3 player is a great alternative for small children that are not responsible enough to handle an iPod or iPad. Songs and stories can be downloaded for hours of entertainment during long car rides. They are easy to operate. If lost it is no big deal because they are inexpensive. They are also great for runners and walkers because they are light weight.

Here is a simple mini Hello Kitty mp3 player manual or instruction guide.

But how do I work this?

This How-To guide will help.

1st Things 1st

Charging the Battery -

The Mini Kitty MP3 Player has a Rechargeable Battery built into the unit: To charge the battery plug the USB Adapter that comes with the unit into the MP3 player and the other end into any computer. Make sure the pins are aligned correctly. Iit should plug into each end easily. Be careful not to bend the pins .

When the battery of the Player is charging you will see a flashing light on the side of the MP3 player. The MP3 Player does NOT need to be turned on when charging the MP3 player (your computer might need to be turned on).

The player will charge in the 'off' or 'on' position. When the unit is fully charged the light will stop flashing and remain lit. I think it takes a couple of hours to fully charge the battery.

You'll Need a Micro SD Memory Card -

The unit has NO internal memory. It will work with an SD micro card, which can be inserted into the slot saying 'Micro SD/T-Flash .

All you need for the MP3 player to work is a small SD microchip inserted into the player. A 2 or 4 Gig SD mini memory card will be enough to hold hundreds of songs.

A Micro SD memory Card

Installing the SD Card in the player -

The Micro SD memory card will be inserted directly into the MP3 player.

To do this make sure the MP3 player's clip is up so you can read the 'Micro SD/T flash' on the side of the MP3 Player. Insert the SD card into the player with the writing on the card up (pins on the card facing down) and the arrow up. The card will snap into the player if it is in the correct position. Once the card is in place, you do NOT need to remove it. If you want to remove it just push it in with your thumb and it will partially pop out. You can now remove it.

Plug the SD card into the Player

Loading songs on the MP3 Player -

The MP3 player will play songs that are in ".MP3" format only. That is a standard file format with most MP3 players.

CD's are in ".CDA" file formats and can be 'ripped' to MP3 format with a media player on your computer. You can load any mp3 files (or folders containing mp3 files) to the MP3 player.

To do this:

  1. Make sure the player is connected to a computer with the USB adapter.
  2. On your Computer - Double click on the removable drive in 'My Computer' to show the contents on the SD card (minimize and keep this open).
  3. On your computer open the folder that contains the mp3 files you wish to copy from your computer to the MP3 player. Drag/Drop or Copy/Paste the files or folders from the Computer to the Removable drive of the SD folder.
  4. In the future if you wish to delete files from your MP3 player just highlight that file on the drive, right click and select 'delete', just like you would do with any file on a computer.

The drive on the MP3 player can be loaded with songs in MP3 format or folders containing 'MP3' songs. You should be able to store 200-400 songs on a 2gig card.

Make sure the MP3 Player Is connected to your computer to load any songs.

Make sure the MP3 Player Is connected to your computer to load any songs.

Viewing the SD Card contents on a computer -

- Plug the USB adapter into the MP3 player and the computerjust like a the previous picture above).

- Turn the MP3 player on.

- The space or contents on your computer (If you look at "My Computer" in Windows the mp3 Player will show up as a removable drive).

- If you double click on that drive you will see any contents (blank the first time) on the memory card.

- If you right click with your mouse on that folder and select 'properties' from the drop down menu will see the used and available space on the drive.

Using the Player -

- The player is simple and very basic to use. Plug in the earbuds (or get some better small headphones) and turn the player 'on'.

- To start playing the songs on the SD card hit the middle = button on the player. That button is also used to 'pause' a song.

The side arrows on the front ring |<< Go Back a song or >>| skips to the next song(on some models the previous/next |<< or |>> also fast forwards/rewinds a song if you press and hold this button).

The - and + on the top of the ring increase or decrease the volume.

Pretty 'bare-bones' simple player.

Hope this article helps and Enjoy your MP3 Player.

Hi,

Sorry I'm a little late on the reply. Your situation sounds like the battery will not charge properly. Might be time to replace it, hope your songs are on a SD Card or backed up..

when i charge my mp3 player then for few seconds the light will blink and turn off and if i play my mp3 player it will not work at least for 1 minute plzz help ......

hollander (author) on October 11, 2018:

Hello Gifty,

The computer will only recognize the SD card and not the device, that is normal for these.

The other problem about powering down sounds like the battery is not holding a charge anymore. Rechargeable batteries used in these and other devices wear out. When they wear from age/charging they will no longer hold a charge and go dead fast. Might be time to replace this unit.

Gifty on October 11, 2018:

Hi, when i try charging my mp3 without an sd card it just shines a steady light but it blinks when i put in an sd card yet it doesn't charge because when i try to use it, it powers down in less then a minute.

Also the computer doesn't recognise that an mp3 has been plugged in.

It has been like this since i bought it :(

hollander (author) on July 09, 2017:

Sounds like the internal Battery isn't taking a charge for longer than that time. If it used to keep it's charge for a longer time then the battery is starting to wear down, 10 minutes is not long. Might be time to start planning for replacement.

cool boy on July 08, 2017:

hi

My mp3 got fully charge but when I play a song it only work for 10 min, but then it turn off and when again on it it does not on until I put it on charging.

hollander (author) on April 05, 2017:

Hi,

Sounds like it is only playing off of the power from your computer if it only plays when it is plugged in. That sounds like the internal battery won't charge anymore. They do get to a point where they will not re-charge. Not much you can do about that., because you can't replace those. Might be time to replace it.

Hello,

My mp3 player will only play when it's on the off button and when on charge. When I pull it out of charge and put it on, it doesn't play and there is no light when its on. Also when I connect it to my computer the light blinks for a few seconds then stops blinking and when I remove it it plays for a few seconds then stops playing . Please help :((

hollander (author) on February 24, 2017:

Hello msoulchrysalis,

I believe it should light for a couple of seconds if the unit is turned on, then it will turn the light off(and it is fully charged). If it is turned off it will not light at all with the USB cable plugged in..

msoulchrysalis on February 22, 2017:

hi.. my mp3 have this tendency of not lighting when I already plugged it on the computer... Why is that?

hollander (author) on December 13, 2016:

Hi Alexis,

Always charge the unit by plugging the USB cable into a computer.

When the unit is fully charged the light will stop flashing and remain lit. I think it takes a couple of hours to fully charge the battery.

Alexis on December 12, 2016:

How to know if it's 100%? and how to charge it properly

hollander (author) on December 08, 2016:

Hi,

No this type of player is pretty basic. It just plays and allows you to go forward or back 1 song at a time, no shuffle that I'm aware of.

Mastermind on December 08, 2016:

Does it have shuffle function ?

hollander (author) on September 12, 2016:

Hi WAn

When the unit is fully charged the light will stop flashing and remain lit.

WAn on September 11, 2016:

how to know mp3 player was fully charged??

hollander (author) on September 11, 2016:

Hello Luna,

Your Question: Hi um, when I plug in the player into the computer, it doesn't show the file. What am I supposed to do?

First - Make sure the player is turned on and then make sure that the SD card is in correctly(Sometimes it shows up on your computer with a name like "Removable Disk" and a Letter).

If the card is not readable you will probably get an error like this( Please insert a Disk into the Removeable (or name) disk).

hollander (author) on September 10, 2016:

Hi,

I've not done that, but I don't think that should affect anything related to the charging.

Wan on September 10, 2016:

Hi there, i have a question for you .

what happen if i inserted SD Card while player on charge?

Luna on September 09, 2016:

Hi um, when I plug in the player into the computer, it doesn't show the file. What am I supposed to do?

hollander (author) on August 19, 2016:

Hi Brooke,

Sorry to response so late, but I've been very busy with some things here. There is NO internal memory on my player and you must have an SD card to store any music. These units rely on the external card for storage.

Brooke on August 15, 2016:

Can you add music from the computer with your USB without having an SD card in the MP3 player?

hollander (author) on May 05, 2016:

Hi,

That sounds like an issue with the USB port on the computer or the connector on the MP3 player. Did you try a different USB port on the computer or a different connecting adapter?

To rule out the USB port as a problem try to plug any other USB device in that drive and see if the computer recognizes that. If the computer recognizes another connected device, then it could be a problem in the MP3 player or USB connector.

Other Causes of this error according to the Microsoft support website for 'Unrecognizable USB Port Errors' are:

This issue can be caused if any of the following situations exist:

1. The currently loaded USB driver has become unstable or corrupt

2. Your PC requires an update for issues that may conflict with a USB external hard drive and Windows

3. Windows may be missing other important updates hardware or software issues

4. Your USB controllers may have become unstable or corrupt

5. Your external drive may be entering selective suspend

6. Your PC motherboard may need updated drivers

Hope this helps and good luck.

when I plugged the USB it says that the USB device is unrecognized and it's not blinking .

hollander (author) on January 21, 2016:

Hi,

Never heard of this, the only thing I can think of is the battery Not charging? I wonder if the battery in the unit won't hold a charge anymore and that is why you play from the computers power but not the mp3 alone.

nanaaa on January 21, 2016:

i have charged it until it stop blinks and remain red lit. but after i unplugged it from my computer and turn it on, it doest play the music. the red lit also didnt appear. but when i turn it on with it is plugging to the computer, it plays the music , why?

hollander (author) on December 22, 2015:

Hi Jamie,

I'm only aware of using the USB connection to the computer to charge it. I don't think they make an adapter that can be plugged into an Electric outlet when I wrote this, but maybe that will change.

jaime sarmiento on December 21, 2015:

can I charged it without plugging it in the computer?

hollander (author) on December 21, 2015:

Hi Jamie,

When it's plugged in and it blinks (flashing) that means it's not fully charged. It will stop blinking when it is charged. Leave it charging until it stops blinking.

jaime sarmiento on December 21, 2015:

what happens if it doesn't blink when its plugged in?

Hi Veroevans

If it doesn't blink when it's plugged into the Computer USB Drive then it should mean that it's fully charged. The blinking when playing is ok.
